The Floo burst into life, startling Ron and Hermione, and out marched Harry, looking furious, and Ginny, looking as if Harry had been dragging her along.
"Did you see this?" Harry shouted, waving a piece of parchment at Ron. "What the fuck went on?"
"Harry, we just got ours," Hermione told them. "We were going to call you, you know."
"How can you be so calm?" Harry yelled. "Did you read the letter?"
The letter in question was from Hogwarts, more specifically, Professor Neville Longbottom, head of Gryffindor House. Ron and Hermione had received their letters, as did Harry and Ginny, not ten minutes ago. While Ron and Hermione had talked about it, Ron was sure that Harry and Ginny had a row to rival those Hermione and Ron had back at Hogwarts. He smirked at how their positions had changed.
"What's so funny? You think this is funny? Look, Ron, it's your son who did this to my little girl!" Harry fumed.
"Harry, I'm sure she'll be fine soon," Hermione said calmly.
"She's right, Harry." Ginny put her hand on Harry's shoulder. He was shaking like a leaf.
"I want to go see her. I need to make sure she's okay," Harry said, his voice shaky.
"Harry," Ginny said softly, "she'll be fine, really. Neville said it was only temporary." She hugged him to her and looked over at Ron. "Come on, let's go home, Harry. I'll take care of you." She kissed him lightly and squeezed his rear end.
"Okay. But if anything happens to her…"
"I know!" Ron said with exasperation. "Go!"
He watched as Ginny and Harry Flooed home, disappearing in the green flames.
"Now I feel like shit," Ron huffed as he sat down on the sofa. He picked up the discarded letter and reread it.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Weasley,This afternoon there was an accident in your son Hugo's Potions class.
According to Professor Parkinson, your son and his partner, Lily Potter, were arguing in class and Hugo threw the potion at Miss Potter, and she ingested a fair amount of the potion. She was taken immediately to the Hospital Wing. Rest assured, she will recover.
Hugo has received three detentions for placing Lily in harm's way and has spent much of his free time with her. I don't think any further discipline from you will be necessary.
Sincerely,
Professor Neville F. Longbottom
Professor of Herbology
Head of Gryffindor HousePS—Ron, Hermione, I gave the original to Professor Hollyoake, without the post-script. They were making Babbling Beverage and all that's happening is that Lily is speaking in five different languages. There's really nothing we can do until the potion wears off in a couple days. I suspect Harry won't be taking this near as calmly as you will.
"Gee, Neville, you think?"
