Requested by Gububba and Cagun_Goddess
1--Harry and Ginny (of course)
2--meeting up for the first time after it is all over. You can decide if that is at Hogwarts or at the Burrow. Just a little chat between the two that can go where you want it to.
3--Rating: Maybe keep it R and up please?! The rating's not what you wanted...sorry, but the muse is being very chaste today.
PS—Cagun_Goddess wanted angry!Ginny, but thought it would be easier to combine the requests. I don'tdo an angry Ginny very well, so this is what I came up with.
Harry descended the stairs from the headmaster's office alone, Ron and Hermione had left a few minutes earlier so that he could have a private chat with Professor Dumbledore's portrait.
Harry was tired, yet knew that sleep wouldn't come easily. He desperately wanted to find a bed in Gryffindor tower and sleep for about a week. But there was one thing he needed to do before anything else.
In the doorway of the Great Hall, he was greeted by a quizzical looking Ginny. She looked as tired as he felt, but she still had a smile for him, one that could make all the dust and clutter of his life go away.
"I'm sorry about Fred," he told her in the softest way he could. "I don't know what to say, Ginny. I feel horrible about him."
"It's okay, Harry. I think I'm just a bit numb right now." Her voice didn't sound like her usual one, making his heart break a bit. "Mum's sleeping upstairs in McGonagall's rooms. Dad made Pomfrey give her something."
Harry nodded, not knowing what else to do.
"Can you take a walk with me, Harry?" She didn't allow him to answer and took his hand, leading him through the debris strewn entrance hall and out the doorway, down the front lawn to a familiar beech tree near the lake. This was where he, Ron and Hermione spend many an hour sitting, talking and eating sandwiches in what seemed a lifetime ago. It was also the place where he and Ginny spent many happy hours when he was sixteen before everything about his life went to hell.
Harry watched as Ginny sat down on the grass and patted a spot next to her. He sat down next to her and without thinking, he gathered her up in his arms at his side and kissed the top of her head.
"I should be very angry with you, Harry."
"I wouldn't expect anything less."
"But I understand now. Why you didn't want me coming along with you. Why you didn't want me in the heat of things."
"Yeah? What changed your mind?"
"Seeing Mum and Dad crying. Seeing Fred lying there and not moving. Seeing Remus and Tonks. I finally understood you."
Harry squeezed her again.
"I thought about you all the time, Ginny. I watched you on the Marauders' Map, just to know you were okay. I just couldn't bear it if something else happened to someone else that I…" He took a deep breath. "If something else happened to someone that I love more than anything else in the world."
Ginny turned in his arms and moved to face him. She was crying.
"Really?"
Now he was crying. All he could do was nod.
Their lips met softly and gently at first and then more urgently, their kiss from July soon paled in comparison. It could have gone on for months and Harry wouldn't have cared. When they finally broke apart, they were on the grass and breathless.
Harry looked down at her and smiled, all tiredness having suddenly left his body. Out of now where, they both began laughing until the sound of someone stepping on a twig broke through the moment between them.
"Oh, sorry."
Ron turned around and left them alone. This time, Harry stayed where he was.
He wouldn't be leaving her side anytime soon.
